About golf

Why was golf standardised as 18 holes in 1764?

In 1764, the Society of St Andrews reduced their course from 22 holes to 18 — not by design, but by merging four short holes into two. Golf Gita asks: was it coincidence that 18 also governs the Gita and Kurukshetra?

Amazing Facts

About the Gita

The Bhagavad Gita is written in 18 chapters.
The Gita’s 18 chapters were not arbitrary. In Vedic tradition, 18 represents the totality of cosmic cycles — holding both the material and the transcendent. The same number governs the 18 days of Kurukshetra.

What is Golf Gita?

Where the fairway meets the battlefield

Golf is not merely a game of clubs and courses. It is a mirror — reflecting patience, ego, duality, and the restless mind back at the player who dares to look.

Golf Gita draws the line between them. Each of the 18 holes corresponds to one of the 18 chapters of the Gita — and to one of the 18 inner forces that shape how we play, how we think, and how we live.

The outward journey — nine inner forces

Halfway House

The Sacred Pause

After nine holes · Before the turn

Nine inner forces have met you on the course. The sacred pause is not an interruption — it is a threshold. The golfer who walks into the back nine unchanged has not truly played the front nine.

“What did the front nine reveal about you? What will you carry forward — and what will you leave behind?”

The Game Within the Game

Your struggle on the course is never just about the course

Golf Gita maps the inner forces behind every outer frustration.

The Problem

“I play well in practice but fall apart when it matters.”

The Force at Work

The ego steps in the moment the shot becomes meaningful. It needs to perform, to be seen, to succeed — and that need tightens the grip and poisons the swing.

Hole 1 — Ego · Ahaṅkāra

The Problem

“One bad hole ruins my entire round — and my whole day.”

The Force at Work

The mind clings to the bad shot and builds a story around it. The steady player neither collapses into the bad hole nor floats away on the good one.
Hole 2 — Duality · Dvandva

The Problem

“I can’t stop thinking about my score while I’m still playing.”

The Force at Work

The mind has left the present hole and is already on the 18th green. Kāla teaches that only this shot is real — past and future are both illusions.

From the Author

“Golf was the first discipline that demanded everything from me — not just my swing, but my silence. It asked me to face the ego I had built across forty years of business, migration, and identity. The Bhagavad Gita had been asking me the same question all along. I simply had not heard it until I stood on a fairway in Tanzania and finally ran out of excuses.”
